»With its sparkling Hungarian finale, Joseph Haydn's Piano Concerto in D Major Hob.XVII:11 recalls his Hungarian service with Prince Esterhazy. The young, talented pianist Maximilian Schairer emphasized the virtuoso and arabesque moments of this composition very well, with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra under the multifaceted direction of Dan Ettinger providing sensitive accompaniment. The main theme, with its expressive leap in fourths, was hit exactly - and the contrasting passages were not neglected here either. The richness of timbre was striking in this interpretation, with dynamic contrasts and dissonances flashing out.
