»Style-concsious - With high pianistic competence.« - Concerti, Frank Armbruster, 31.07.2023
»Schairers nuanced interpretation is able to captivate the listener.« - Rondo Magazine, Corina Kolbe, 01.07.2023
»With a sense of sound and intellect, astounding musical intelligence« is how critics describe the versatile young artist, who has been awarded the title of "Young Steinway Artist" by Steinway & Sons and has been awarded several first prizes at festivals/competitions in Europe and the USA, such as at Braunschweig Classix under the jury of Deutsche Grammophon and NDR. Maximilian Schairer has received scholarships from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius in cooperation with the Carl-Heinz Illies Fond-Stipendium, the DAAD, the Deutschlandstipendium and the Hans und Eugenia Jütting Stiftung, among others, as well as the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung and the Eva Mayr-Stihl Stiftung in cooperation with SWR. Also he received a Musica Foundation Excellence Grant.
Already in 2011, critics wrote: "The name Maximilian Schairer should be remembered today." He is one of the most interesting musicians of his generation, thrilling audiences not only with his extraordinary artistic maturity, but also with magically exciting interpretations that are richly colored and elaborate down to the finest nuances. His main focus is on the works of Beethoven and Bach.
He has performed in renowned concert halls in Europe, Indonesia and USA, received numerous festival engagements such as ATTACA Festival for Contemporary Music, Braunschweig Classix, Festival International de Musique Dinard, MUSIKFESTUTTGART, Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele, LUCERNE FESTIVAL, Salzburger Festspiele, US International Romantic Festival, played for Queen Elizabeth II's "Diamond Jubilee", for German President Gauck, and made his orchestral debut with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra at the age of 12, as well as Bach's French Suite in E Major, his studio recording debut with BR-Klassik. Another highlight: his US Carnegie Hall debut in 2014, where he performed again in 2015. In the 2017 season, he thrilled audiences at his Liederhalle Orchestra debut in the Beethoven Hall together with the CSO, and at his Esslingen Master Concert debut with the JSPE. In 2018, he opened Stuttgart's young classical music festival ZUKUNFTSKLANG. In May 2019, he celebrated his orchestral debut with the Stuttgart Philharmonic and Jan Willem de Vriend in Hummel's Piano Concerto in B minor, which was acclaimed by the audience in the nearly sold-out Theater Ansbach and in the Beethoven Hall of the KKL Liederhalle Stuttgart. In October 2019, he enchanted with "heart, multi-faceted wit, great color of sound and personality", in his short-term engagement for the injured General Music Director and Chief Conductor Dan Ettinger in Haydn's Piano Concerto in D major at whose request he took over the solo part.As a chamber music partner, he performs with various ensembles, including the ensemble of the Stuttgart State Orchestra or as a guest pianist with the Beethoven Trio Bonn.Social commitment at charity concerts is just as important to him as inspiring young audiences for classical music at school workshops. His debut CD "Clair de Lune" together with violinist Philipp Jonas (master student of Julia Fischer) was released in April 2021 under the label "bella musica-THOROFON" and was broadcast on BR-Klassik, SWR2 and rbb-Kultur. In June 2023 his solo CD "Gloaming" was released in co-production with BR-Klassik and "hänssler classic". Further radio recordings with BR-Klassik and works by Mozart and Chopin were broadcast in 2023.
He received artistic impulses from Ya-Fei Chuang, Jörg Halubek, Martin Helmchen, Robert Levin, Murray Perahia. Maximilian Schairer began his studies in piano and historical keyboard instruments in Stuttgart, Leipzig and Munich. He completed his studies with top marks in each case. He is currently continuing his concert studies with Prof. Michael Hauber at the HMDK Stuttgart. On social media, he is requested for collaborations with companies such as the G. Henle publishing house.

His interpretations are described by renowned artists and the critics as »with sensibility and a sense for sound, coupled with technical ability and an extraordinary artistic maturity«. Maximilian Schairer is considered one of the most interesting musician of his generation and inspires press, professors and the general public alike with his natural manner, with magical-exciting interpretations elaborated into the finest nuances and a sensitive colourful sense for sound. He is distinguished by a profound knowledge of the work. His repertoire ranges from baroque to the 21th century. He places one focus in the works of Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach as well as in the preservation of the historic music tradition with Tradition & Zeitgeist.
He found his musical role models and goals very early on being deeply influenced by his participation in many events, lecture concerts, and courses at the International Bach Academy. As well as playing piano, he is also interested in the organ, historical keyboard instruments, conducting and the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Social engagement at charity concerts and events is a great importance for him, for example with joint concert afternoons for the handicapped and able-bodied in the Amseltheater in Stuttgart, Germany or in favor oft he campaigns „Advent Calendar“ of the Süddeutsche Zeitung and „Sternstunden e. In 2021, he received several grants from the German Foundation of Musical Life. In 2023, he received a Musica Foundation Excellence Grant.
As the youngest participant in the history of the renowned masterclass for »Performance Practice of the works of JS Bach« received Maximilian Schairer in 2009 a personal invitation from the Bach Archives in Leipzig. Since then he has extended his musical knowledge by regular participation in numerous masterclasses in Germany and abroad under the Bach expert and Mozart researcher, Robert Levin. Maximilian Schairer caught Robert Levin's attention by his unique natural feeling, his "il gusto" and his

Maximilian Schairer is a welcome guest at the Musical Summer Festival hosted by the Southern German Chamber Symphony and has concertized at renowned festivals e.g. ATTACCA Festival for Contemporary music, Braunschweig Classix Festival, Festival International de Musique Dinard, MUSIKFESTUTTGART, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, LUCERNE FESTIVAL, Salzburg Festival, US International Romantic Festival. Invitations to other orchestral concerts followed, including Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto in C minor for two harpsichords BWV 1060 as part of the Stuttgart International Organ Academy, the South German Chamber Symphony. In the 2017 season, he thrilled audiences with Beethoven's Piano Concerto in C major in the Beethoven Hall together with the CSO and with Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor and the JSPE at the Esslingen Master Concerts of the sks-Russ concert direction during his Liederhallen Orchestra debut. In 2018, he performed with the arcata chamber orchestra and opened Stuttgart's young classical music festival ZUKUNFTSKLANG. In October 2019, he enchanted the audience with his "heart, multi-faceted wit, and great color of tone and personality" when he took over the solo part at short notice for the injured General Music Director and Chief Conductor Dan Ettinger in Haydn's Piano Concerto in D Major at his request. Critics wrote of this coincidence, "It is a delight ... Dan Ettinger and young Schairer are an explosive combination ... the two together defy all expectations." In the "Beethoven Year 2020″ he was also obliged by his many years of Beethoven studies to perform some of the most significant and beautiful Beethoven piano concertos, the Choral Fantasy in C minor, the Piano Concertos in G major and E-flat major. In 2023 he performed Schubert/Liszt Wanderer Fantasy in C major op. 15 D760/Great Fantasy S633 for orchestra.
